Description

This magnificent trawler was built by naval architects in Seahorse Marine and was designed by George Beuhler, a steel boat with 350 hours engine time, located in Hong Kong.

OVERVIEW

The Diesel Duck 462 Sedan was designed by George Buehler for Seahorse Marine Manufacturer, and built in Zuhai, China for Key Ocean Limited.

The Diesel Duck concept was inspired by the salmon trollers that traditionally worked the West Coast of the United States from Central California, up to Oregon and Washington.

Trollers are designed to be operated by only one or two crew, to move through the water easily while using minimal fuel and thus capable to operate for days at a time even in bad weather.

The contract was for the yard to build a “base vessel” with the owner to supply all parts / components / accessories / materials relating to the mechanical / electrical / electronic systems and all materials or extra items that differed from the builder’s standard specifications.

Construction of the vessel started in late 2009.

The owner supplied equipment was to a very high specification and has added a lot of cost and value to the vessel.

In January 2017 the vessel was delivered to the owner partially completed and she was taken to Hong Kong.

The vessel has been completed over the past twelve months under the supervision of the owner using suitably qualified and experienced contractors.

Additional Works Done:

A lot of upgrades have been since last - as I had the parts already it was a matter of getting it installed.

The swimplatform is installed now - it made a world of difference, much more usable.

A dual remote oil filter has been installed which allows for oil filter change without shutting down the engine during passages. A must for a passage maker.

I’ve also installed a game changing bulypass oil filter from Puradyn- it reduced oil change intervals to several years as the required filters adds additives to the oil to keep it nee and also filters out any combustion residues form the oil - thus greatly increasing reliability and longevity of the engine.

The engine and engine room floor has also been painted so it’s like new. I’ve also installed the new engine room exhaust channel so the exhaust is now 2.2 meters above water line, greatly preventing any water to enter engine room through this vent.

There is now an extra cabinet on the for deck for storage of rope and fenders - this storage doubles as a sofa.

The bottom has been overhauled with Hempel products with epoxy repairs where needed, a tie coat and then 2 coats of Hempel Globic 7000. The bow propellers and main propeller has been coated with Propeller Speed so it will be clean for a few years now.

There are now sat tv signals in the cabins too, so viewing is possible in the cabins as well as in the saloon.

Al 3 dining tables have been upgraded to bigger ones for better usage.

Cctv is now available on the upper multi function display too.

The decks are in the process of being epoxied again and then coated with Kiwi grip as this is the best coat and one that reduces heat load  - so bare footing is possible even at midday.

I am putting together a comprehensive spare parts list for you.all in all - there is no boat out there with this capability and this equipment status available. - not even any other seahorses.
